I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge in the field of Condensed Matter Physics and throughout my career I used a wide range of experimental techniques to study materials for quantum computing and energy harvesting applications. I have recently started to transition towards the field of data science and I took part in the Pivigo Science to Data Science program. Throughout this program, using coding in Python, I had the opportunity to work within a team of data scientists to tackle the problem of identifying risk factors associated with default for tenants in affordable housing.
What truly makes working in data science exciting for me is the potential that this field has to improve the lives of many. Indeed, these tools can help us find answer to complex questions about society, policy and social behaviour that we historically have struggled to address. I have been interested in these topics for many years and during my time in Cambridge I have also organized a series of events concerning the social responsibility of scientists and the intersection between the field of science, policy and ethics.
For these reasons, I would be thrilled to offer some of my time to help with the DSSG Solve projects.
