I want to first talk about my passion and skills for this role I want to work in. With the desire to solve problems with data, I decided to pursue the Master of Data Science degree and immersed myself into a systematic and profound knowledge of data analysis and modeling skills. After a dedicated learning process, I am now proficient in conducting data analysis, and implementing machine learning models to deliver insights using Python and R, and also learned skills in managing databases and writing custom SQL queries. Besides, I also have a solid statistical background including practical modeling and knowledge of statistical analysis such as hypothesis testing. I’m also proficient in conducting data visualizations using various tools including Tableau and PowerBI. However, I always think that’s just the skills a qualified data scientist should have, and what I should do as a future data scientist is to apply them in the fields I’m interested in. Therefore, I started to build new projects by myself, and with the tag “100 data projects challenge” to challenge myself. For example, I conducted an exploratory data analysis with Covid-19 datasets, trying to gain insights into the current situation of human’s fight against the disease. I built a heart disease prediction model, trying to detect potential heart disease with other features to benefit people. Recently I have achieved the certification of Microsoft certification Data Analyst Associate, and I am still working on more machine learning projects. I will keep thriving on the opportunity to discover new information and develop new skills.
I have participated in volunteering work and indulged freely in helping people during my bachelor years for more than 2 years. Those activities are great opportunities to explore my potential skills in organization and leadership, what’s even more, they got me engaged and contribute to a greater cause while doing something I love.
