As a person with an innate need to ask questions and find answers to the world around me, learning about Data Science felt like the most natural path for me to take. I always found myself being drawn to anything that required a good deal of problem solving and that's why I'm intrigued by the interdisciplinary study of Data Science. Not only does Data Science pull me in just with my own curiosity, but also because of the many ways and industries it can be applied. The applications of data science that intrigue me most are those that are able to have a positive impact. I am very intrigued by the moral philosophy of care ethics and believe that if we have the capacity to act in a compassionate manner then we should do so. To be able to combine my skills in problem solving and my passion for making a positive impact on the world around me is why I hope to be an aid in this organization’s goal of doing data science for social good. I am young and have much to learn in terms of industry knowledge and skills but I hope I can still be of use as I continue my learning journey. I just graduated from undergrad this year and have a basic understanding and skill set in statistics, Python, machine learning, data visualization, and database management. I am particularly interested in projects involving the environment, social sciences, education and health.
