Hi, I'm Alvaro — a functional consultant based in Paris, transitioning into data analytics and data science. Background. I work at Manhattan Associates, implementing order management systems for global retail clients (Nespresso, Christian Louboutin, SuitSupply). While my role is primarily functional consulting — design, testing, stakeholder workshops, go-live support — it regularly involves data work: SQL queries to diagnose client issues, building dashboards and KPI reports (IBM Cognos), and translating technical findings for non-technical business teams. I'm comfortable with Python (pandas, scikit-learn, plotly), SQL, and Excel. To build toward the transition, I've developed portfolio projects including an end-to-end analysis of ~100K real e-commerce orders — ETL, exploratory analysis, and a Random Forest model predicting delivery time. I'm pursuing a M.Sc. in Data Science alongside my job. I speak Spanish, English, French, German, and Italian at professional level. Motivation. I've volunteered before — with Sine Domus in Seville, delivering food and clothing to people experiencing homelessness — but always with my hands, never with my data skills. Pro bono data work lets me contribute to something meaningful while gaining the real-world experience I need to make my career transition credible. Project preferences. I'm drawn to data analysis, dashboards, or exploratory work that helps an organization make better decisions — resource allocation, impact measurement, or survey analysis. I'm happy to take on data cleaning and pipeline work too. I'd prefer projects where I can contribute with Python and SQL rather than tools I haven't used yet. Goal. Deliver useful, well-documented analytical work to an organization that needs it, while building real-world data science experience and a track record of pro bono work I intend to continue long-term.
