Hi, I'm Lauren! I'm a data scientist based in the DMV area with about 2.5 years of professional experience building and deploying end-to-end ML systems. My technical background spans NLP and transformer models, generative AI, time series forecasting, survival analysis, and cloud deployment on AWS. I also have a particular interest in fairness and bias in ML. My favorite course in college was human-AI interaction, and early in my career I researched gender bias in a hiring model and co-presented the work at GECCO 2022. I love the curiosity and exploration that comes with data science work, and I love finding the impactful story in a dataset. My current job is a lot of fun, but I find myself wanting to use my skills to help people too. I previously volunteered with Sportable, a nonprofit Paralympic sports club, where I built a forecasting approach to help them plan and allocate resources more effectively, and it was one of the most rewarding things I've done professionally. I'm most excited about projects in economic mobility, workforce equity, or healthcare access, but I'm open to wherever my skills are most useful.
