My name is Benjamin Eapen George, and I am currently completing my Master’s in Data Science (specialising in Artificial Intelligence) at La Trobe University. I have a strong foundation in machine learning, data visualization, and statistical analysis, and I’m passionate about applying these skills to meaningful, real-world projects that create social impact.
Throughout my studies, I have worked on several academic and client-based projects involving data cleaning, predictive modelling, and dashboard creation using Python, R, SQL, and Power BI. In my Industry Development Project, I collaborated with a team to design a data-driven solution for a client, where I helped transform complex data into clear insights using agile methods and tools like Jira and GitHub. Additionally, I presented research on Natural Language Processing at the La Trobe University Engineering and Information Showcase, which strengthened my skills in communication and applied analytics.
I am motivated to volunteer because I believe in the power of data and technology to promote transparency, innovation, and better decision-making. I want to gain hands-on experience applying my analytical skills in a community-oriented setting while learning how data can be used to inform policy, improve governance, and empower people.
I am particularly interested in data analysis, research, and visualization projects in areas where I can contribute both technical expertise and creative problem-solving. Through this volunteer experience, I hope to strengthen my skills in data communication, deepen my understanding of how open data initiatives operate, and collaborate with professionals who are equally passionate about social good and sustainable development.
