Hi, I'm Sruthi! My undergraduate background is in data science and I currently work as a data scientist. One of my favorite projects I've ever done is the project I completed my senior year of college.

For this project, I built a sub-genre classifier for Indian Classical music. This was the first time I had worked with audio data and it was a really fun challenge to work with and learn about a completely new type of data. Machine learning models do not understand music in the same way humans do, and the dichotomy between something as emotional as music being represented by a quantitative model was extremely fascinating to me. I built this project in Python utilizing the Librosa, pandas, matplotlib, and scikit-learn packages. The crux of this project was in extracting the notes that made up each audio piece, which I was able to do by first visualizing the audio and then extracting the data from the visualization. After transforming the extracted data into usable features, I was ready to model it through my classifier. I'm really passionate about data science being used for social good. As I grow as a data scientist, I'd love to build and use my skills in a social good frame!
