My name is Anthony Militano and I'm currently a Risk Analyst at Credit One Bank and pursuing my Masters of Science in Analytics at Georgia Tech. My first foray into data came during my time working at a comic book store where I taught myself SQL (2015) to allow us to get the most out of our data and help drive our decision making. After falling in love with data, I decided to enroll in college at the ripe age of 29 in 2019 to pursue a degree in Information Systems. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, Information Systems in May 2024.
Upon graduation, I joined Credit One Bank as a Risk Analyst where I've really been able to expand my skillset with various data science tools such as Python, SAS, Snowflake, PySpark, Streamlit, Hive, Trino, and more. During my time there, I've automated processes using Python, built tools using Streamlit, helped to develop risk models, built data pipelines, and have been an active member of the Python community within the bank.
I've long been a fan of non-profits such as ProPublica and Frontline and have often wondered about how I could use my skills contribute to all the important and valuable work that they do. Having recently discovered Solve for Good via Georgia Tech, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to be able to help. I saw a project proposal that mentioned developing a process to help eliminate countless spreadsheets and that is exactly the kind of work I regularly find myself doing at my day job. In short, this is a mission I truly believe in and I would like to be able to put my skills to use for those who need it, in order for them to continue helping all the people they serve.
