I am Nicole Orzan, and I am a PhD student at the Artificial Intelligence department of the University of Groningen, Netherlands.
My education took place in Italy, at the University if Trieste, where I got both my Bachelor degree in Physics and the my Master degree in Data Science and Scientific Computing. During my masters I developed a wide range of skills, including knowledge and autonomy in the use of machine learning and deep learning techniques. I have become proficient in the use of different programming languages, in particular C, C, Python and R. Now I am confident and autonomous in the development of mathematical and statistical models, and in the use of techniques and tools for statistical data analysis. I also have some work experience with the Agile techniques, gained during a university course with the aim of teaching business strategies.
I really enjoy working in the field of machine learning and AI, but I feel that something is missing in my job: the possibility to improve the world I am in. Don't get me wrong, I am convinced that the development of artificial intelligence will help us in many ways to achieve this goal, perhaps improving the quality of life of underdeveloped communities, or reaching a more democratic world. However, I also believe that it is important acting directly for this purpose, taking the problems in our hands and trying to solve them with the resources that are available now.
This is the reason why I decided to volunteer. I would be honored to take part in your volunteering projects, sharing my knowledge to help others. Hope to hear back from you!
