Hello! I am a recent UCSF alumnus who is in the process of transitioning to a data science career. During my PhD, I led a multi-lab collaboration that focused on characterizing and validating a biological sensor in nematodes. I’ve also learned how to use NumPy, pandas, and matplotlib to analyze and visualize data. Towards the end of my postdoc, I became particularly interested in machine learning and have been actively developing skills in this area by auditing Strang’s linear algebra course on MIT OCW and completing Ng’s machine learning course on Coursera.
I’d like to volunteer on a team-based data science project so that I can gain experience working on an interesting, real world problem using Python. Specifically, I'd like to gain experience in cleaning/wrangling data, analyzing and visualizing data, and using machine learning to make predictions and recognize patterns. While biomedical research projects may be a particularly good fit for me, I am very open to working outside of my domain expertise!
