Hello everyone!
I am recent Mathematics PhD graduate looking to use my analytical and programming skills for social change. While my thesis work focused on modeling disease spread at the next step of my career I want to work on applications of machine learning a wide variety of settings. Right now, I am applying for jobs in Belgium and improving my data analytic skills.
I would be interested projects that combine multiple research areas such as opinion-mining and image recognition. Especially, if they involve collaboration with people from different backgrounds. I have experience programming in MATLAB, R, and Python, skills which I have used to provide insight to problems in related topics in disease ecology and others.
As a project leader for the Illinois Geometry Lab, I’ve learned to be a great team player and manage multiple projects at a time. In addition, I’ve been able to branch out of my specific field by using my skills in a context such as modeling social group competition and using reinforcement learning to study the Prisoner’s dilemma.
I’ve completed the Data Scientist with Python track from DataCamp to improve my skills in data analysis, machine learning, and natural language processing. To this end, I’ve worked on projects of to detect bumble bees vs. honeybees using a deep-learning model and built a book recommendation system using natural language processing.
I am always looking to grow, learn and put my experience in the service of the community. I look forward to working together!
