I feel really blessed to be part of a rapidly-growing community of people trained in Artificial Intelligence. I deeply believe that this particular discipline of Computer Science has the potential of largest impact on the lives of the weaker and unempowered section of societies around the globe. Having spent most of my life in India in both rural and urban neighborhoods I have witnessed first-hand, the inequity in access to water, electricity and basic education, that is endemic to almost quarter of the population. Moreover being an agrarian economy, large sections of the Indian population are vulnerable to variables like weather and pests that severely affects their livelihoods.
Such problems are common to large swathes of the developing world and part of the reason why they have remained largely unsolved has been the lack of insight for governments to direct their policies and the lack of empowerment of common people to address the problems locally. I believe that both AI and Cloud Computing technologies are now advanced enough and accessible that we can devise bold solutions to such age-old problems. It is with this desire to contribute to such solutions, that I would like volunteer my time to the DSSG projects.
