Hi, my name is Roberto Mondini and my background is in Particle Physics with a PhD from the University at Buffalo, where I performed high-precision calculations to help analyze data from the Large Hadron Collider. I am now interested in applying my quantitative and programming skills to work on data science projects that impact people's lives within shorter time frames than academic research. Most recently, I was a Data Science Fellow at Insight Data Science, a program designed to help PhD graduates transition into industry. During the program, I developed an interactive web application that helps hotel managers analyze hotel reviews using natural language processing tools and quantify the impact of negative reviews on room prices. I am proficient in SQL and Python (Pandas, Nltk, Gensim, Scikit-Learn, Tensorflow, Matplotlib, Seaborn), and I have experience with tools such as Dash, Git, and AWS. I am interested in volunteering to further level up my DS skills, gain more real-world experience, and, most importantly, work on projects that ultimately benefit people's lives.
