Interactive web application that produces a customized valuation report for an individual real estate property.
Show taxpayers how we estimated their property values and help them understand the financial implications of their assessments.
Goals for the property owners: - Explain assessment decisions - What they mean (terms, etc.) - How they are made - Assist financial planning - Help people with valid appeals justify their claims
Goals for the Assessor’s office: - Increase TP rate on appeals (those with a valid claim appeal more, those without appeal less) - Forestall corruption in future administrations by making assessments more transparent to the public

Data is not covered by privacy laws. Data is stored in a SQL server. Most of the data and ETL processes are already well defined.
Taxpayers want to know: a) is the Assessor’s estimate of my property’s market value accurate? b) is the Assessor’s estimate of the market values of properties similar to my property consistent? c) what factors went into the estimate of my property’s market value?
The team will interact regularly with members of the public as beta testers. The project will be successful if there is positive feedback from the focus testing groups.
Out of SFG project scope - the project will conclude before deployment.
For the PINVAL team, the finished application will be migrated from the internal application server to the website’s server, tested, and then deployed to production. We hope to complete this by the end of 2020.
Project scope defined together between SFG volunteer team and partner.
